What type of photos should you expect to see in your family photo gallery

Finding the right family photographer can be a challenge. Let’s be honest, there are a lot out there.

Choosing the right one for your family is the first step. A good family photographer not only takes pretty photos, they also create a enjoyable experience. And Trust me, they go hand in hand.

A family that is having a good time during their session will produce photos that reflect those emotions.

My approach to family photography is referred to as “lifestyle photography”. It’s not posed or staged and it’s not about everyone looking right at the camera. Instead, I guide and encourage with games, movement and playful prompts that evoke fun and joyful emotion.

If you’re looking for a photographer that takes pictures of everyone looking at the camera and smiling all the time, I’m not your photographer.

My goal for your family is to create beautiful photos that are full of love, play and authentic smiles and laughter. And if we get some of everyone looking right at the camera, well that’s okay too, but that’s not the goal.

Here is what you can expect if we work together

—Cuddled up family shots—

These are the get close and snuggle type of moments. connection is the focus here and there’s no right or wrong.

Sometimes it’s calm and other times it’s playful. This type of close connection will take place all throughout the session. It’s what brings it all together.

And yes, if you have teenagers I am going to encourage getting cozy with them too!

—Photos full of movement—

I am going to give you prompts that create movement. These are the moments that make your photos truly yours. No matter the prompt I give, I receive different results with each family. That is what makes it so fun and unique.

These fun filled moments make the session itself a memory in the making.

—The kids alone, together, or both—

This is one of the most desired requests. “can you take some pictures of the kids alone?”.

This typically takes place at the point where everyone is comfortably setled into the session.

By this point the kids are “my friends” and they are happy to take center stage for the moment. They trust me and they are eager to please and be my helper. They understand that this is all about fun and there’s no right or wrong.

Most kids are ready to give me some authentic emotion. And some like to take the reigns and tell me what we should do next. I love this because I know that they are having fun. And that is what it’s all about.

Smiling or not, I am going to capture it. Kids are beautiful no matter what.

—A parent alone with a child, or two or three…—

I love seeing how kids respond to their parents. Some are really playful, some hug in super close and some just want to be held. Once again, this is what makes these moments unique to your family.

Plus, you’ll see—through my lens—how your children connect with you.

I promise you are going to want to remember how they fit in your arms, how they hugged you tight or played with your hair.

and last, but certainly not least

—Images of the parents together—

Do you know how often I hear couples say “we havent had pictures of the two of us since our wedding”. Well, guess what? if that’s you, it’s time!

And don’t worry, you don’t need to stress over it, because like the rest of the session I am going to guide you the whole way through.

Do you feel like this is the style of family session that you have been looking for?

-A session that is play based and full of authentic love and connection?

-A session where you’re guided not posed, and where being yourselves is all that is required?

-A session where your kids are encouraged to have fun and they’re happy?

-And where the experience itself is just as important as the photos themselves?

If this sounds good to you-

And you’re ready to have a good time, capture memories and love on your favorite people, then let’s talk I might just be your photographer!
